*/For all teachers who are looking for innovative, exciting reading
ideas for the 21st century, this is the workshop for you.
This Developing Wonderful Readers course is a two day workshop that
gives you, the participant, and time to reflect and devise great
personalised resources to use with your students.
It has come to light that children like using electronic games and
software because it gives them the chance to keep trying until they
have mastered the task at hand. Some of the software offered at the
moment is close ended and although it develops the children's
skills, it may not accommodate their artistic and creative skills.
The resources you will be using and developing over the course of
these two days are open ended, relevant to events and happenings
going on in your room and are also centred on your students so that
they are highly motivated to read and share with each other. This
develops their literacy skills as well as their computer skills at a
higher level than just playing a game that has limited outcomes.
Each participant will be required to bring along a laptop as we will
be supplying a great program for you to use with your children.
This is a very hands-on workshops that past participants have gained
a lot of practical ideas to use in the classroom, while improving
their own computer skills.
The Developing Wonderful Readers workshop will be run at
* Williamstown: 24th and 27th of July.
* Hobart: 25th and 28th of September
* Launceston: 1st and 2nd of October.
We are investigating running these workshops in Sydney on the 21st
and 22nd of September and in Brisbane on the 14th and 21st of
August. At this stage we have not confirmed venues, if your school
would be happy to host these days your school will receive a free
participant to attend the 2 day workshop. Contact me on
lynda.page at ansn.edu.au <mailto:lynda.page at ansn.edu.au> if your
school is interested in hosting the workshops on these set dates.
